Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Greenwich House Music School, 46 Barrow Street, New York, NY
AUDITION: Each participating teacher
will be notified of Student Audition Times.
Applicants may forfeit entry if late for audition time.
All awards are determined during the auditions, not at the recital.
Winners will be invited to a Master Class on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at
Steinway Hall, 109 West 57th Street, New York and also to perform in the Honor Recital on Sunday,
April 18, 2010, at 1:30 pm at the Greenwich House Music School, 46 Barrow Street, New York, NY.
All judges’ decisions are final.
After Audition Day:
Comments sheets and finalist results will be mailed to participating
teachers.
Audition Requirements: Any PTC Member
in Good Standing may enter a TOTAL of 4 Students to compete
in the following age groups: GROUP I Ages 10 and under; GROUP
II Ages 11, 12, 13; GROUP III High School Freshmen and Sophomores, ages 14 and up; GROUP IV High School Juniors and Seniors.
AGE CUT OFF DATE IS MAY 30th.
Repertoire Requirements for ALL Age Groups:
1. Student’s choice of TWO contrasting pieces or ONE long
piece
2. Memorization is required
3. Minimum performance level is comparable to J.S. Bach’s
Inventions or Little Preludes
4. Collection of pieces will not be accepted
5. A movement of Sonata or Sonatina is considered one
piece
6. One copy of music must be presented to Judges at
audition time
7. Photocopies will not be accepted
8. Maximum Playing Time: 10 minutes
MASTER CLASS FOR AWARD WINNERS: Award winners
will have the opportunity to play their winning pieces for Pavlina Dokovska.
A First Prize winner of the Claude Debussy International Competition in France and Italy’s International Piano Competition of Senigallia,
Ms. Dokovska's concert tours have taken her to Europe, the Far East and throughout the United States, receiving critical acclaim for her brilliant
technique, depth of interpretation, and emotional range.
She is Chair of the Piano Department of the Mannes College of Music in New York. In 1999 she founded and became artistic director of the annual
Mannes Festival which grew into a staple of
New York’s musical life with about 20 concerts at some of the city’s major venues. She is also artistic director of the Southwest Virginia Festival
